Sammy Sosa retires....

Former Chicago Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa said Wednesday that he will soon announce his formal retirement from baseball and that he will not allow his legacy to be stained by steroid-use accusations.

"Everything I achieved, I did it thanks to my perseverance, which is why I never had any long, difficult moments [as a baseball player]. If you have a bad day in baseball, and start thinking about it, you will have ten more," said Sosa.

"I will calmly wait for my induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Don't I have the numbers to be inducted?," said Sosa, who presently serves the Dominican government as Special Ambassador For Investment Opportunities.

Sosa had a total of 609 home runs in his career, including seasons of 66 homers in 1998, 63 in 1999 and 64 in 2001. He last played for the Rangers in 2007, a season he called his most fulfilling, hitting 21 round trippers and batting in 92 runs in only 114 games.

I was always more of a Sammy Sosa than a Mark Mcgwire fan...I used to watch his games every afternoon on WGN as a young buck and remember his funny haircuts and amusing dugout rituals...he was a complete player at the time...running the bases...making great catches in the outfield and hitting a lot (for the time) of home runs...of course this all changed during the summer of 1998 when out of fucking nowhere he hit 66 home runs...Sammy Sosa is one of the most blatant steroid users in baseball history and I think he has some large testicles (or not) to be coming out saying this shit right now...this dude hit over 60 homers 3 times in his career...3 times!...thats insane...this however may also be the biggest indictment on the state of baseball during his heyday...he never lead the league in any of those years...yes...he hit over 60 homers 3 times and never...led...the...league...with all that said I didn't stop liking the guy simply because he liked to stick needles in his ass...Sammy Sosa got exposed as being a phony after he hit it big...there were stories about him refusing to attend charity events unless they catered to his demands for private planes and shit...there was the time in his last season with the cubs where he pretended to be hurt so he wasn't playing the last game of the season...and was told he had to be on the bench but he left the stadium early...lied about it...and was caught on tape and fined his game check...then the biggest fail came when he appeared before congress and pretended to not be able to speak english when asked about steroids...the same guy that did commercials for pepsi and countless interviews with ESPN etc pretended he couldn't speak english...that was the last straw for me when it came to Sammy...good luck with your hopes of getting into the hall of fame sir...you're going to need it

Nighty night....keep ya butthole tight

Travis Henry signed a plea deal with prosecutors in which the former NFL player admitted to a single cocaine conspiracy charge in exchange for two other charges being dropped.

Under a plea deal filed yesterday with the court in Billings, Mont., the 30-year-old Henry will admit to conspiracy to possess at least 11 pounds of cocaine with intent to distribute the drug.

If U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull accepts the plea, Henry faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life in prison, a $4 million fine, and at least five years of supervised release.

Henry was cut by the Denver Broncos in June after playing one season of a four-year, $22.5 million contract.

He and codefendant James Mack, 29, of Bow Mar, Colo., were arrested in October after authorities in Montana found six pounds of marijuana and about 6.6 pounds of cocaine that the pair allegedly had supplied.

The government said that Henry trafficked cocaine between Colorado and Montana and that one of his associates had delivered six pounds of cocaine to Billings on previous occasions.

Henry's lawyer in Denver, Harvey Steinberg, did not immediately return a call from the Associated Press.

I guess I understand him getting desperate and trying to make drug deals to feed them cheeren...but damn dude...you have a skill that makes you millions of dollars and you blew it by repeatedly failing drug tests because you like to smoke weed...thats why you can't take care of your kids...your seeds can't be more important than your seeds...not good business

Donte...you're screwed

DUI manslaughter charges are expected to be filed Wednesday afternoon against Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, alleging the football player was driving drunk last month when he struck and killed a pedestrian on Miami Beach, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Blood tests revealed Stallworth had a blood alcohol level of .12 after the 7 a.m. crash, a second source with knowledge of the investigation told The Miami Herald.

Arrangements have been made for Stallworth to surrender to authorities, the source said.

Police have been investigating Stallworth since March 14, when police responded to the scene of a fatal car crash at the southeast end of the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach.

Police said Stallworth was driving a Bentley east on the MacArthur Causeway about 7 a.m. and struck Mario Reyes, 59, who was getting off work and crossing the street to get to a bus stop.

A video obtained by The Miami Herald shows Stallworth, dressed in jeans and a shirt, being given a sobriety test by two Miami Beach police officers.

Reyes worked for the shipping company Bernuth Agencies, which is a short distance from the crash site.

Reyes was born in Cuba and left as a teenager for a better life in the United States. He worked numerous construction jobs. He was an avid baseball fan, particularly fond of the Florida Marlins. Reyes is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Catalina, and the couple's 15-year-old daughter, Daniela.

Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns as a free agent before last season, but hardly played because of a hamstrung injury.

He previously played for the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints, finishing last season with just 17 catches for 170 yards.

Stallworth had his best season with the Saints in 2005, when he made a career-high 70 receptions for 945 yards and seven touchdowns. He was drafted in the first round (No. 13 overall) by the Saints in 2002. Stallworth played college football at Tennessee.

A few days after the crash, Stallworth, through the Cleveland Browns organization, issued a statement expressing his condolences to the Reyes family.

''My family and I are grief stricken over the tragic accident which occurred Saturday on Miami Beach where Mario Reyes sadly lost his life,'' Stallworth said in the statement. ``My thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes family during this incredibly difficult time.

''Unfortunately, since this accident is still under police investigation, I cannot comment further on the matter at this time,'' Stallworth said.

drinking and driving is something that probably all of us have done at some point...but stories like this should probably make us think harder about it...is it really worth ruining your life just to get home or wherever you're trying to go?...this man is a millionaire and its probably all going to go down the drain because of one stupid decision...horrible situation

Sham....fail

OTTAWA — Television pitchman Vince Shlomi, better known as the ShamWow Guy who has been phenomenally successful peddling absorbent towels and food choppers, was arrested at a swank Miami hotel last month after a violent confrontation with a prostitute, according to a post Friday on the website The Smoking Gun.

Shlomi, 44, and Sasha Harris, 26, were both arrested, according to police reports.

According to an arrest affidavit, Shlomi told police he met Harris at a Miami Beach nightclub on Feb. 7 and took her to his $750-a-night room Shlomi told police he paid Harris about $1,000 and that that when he kissed her, she "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched her several times until she released his tongue.

The affidavit says a bleeding Shlomi ran to the hotel lobby, where security summoned police.

Both arrested for felony aggravated battery, but The Smoking Gun says prosecutors this month declined to file formal charges against the combatants.

Photos on the website show a battered Schlomi and copies of the handwritten police report.
