The Herd vs Jimmer

Ok...I've lived in Las Vegas for about a year now and the local affiliate carries ESPN Radio's national feed in the morning...back east I was never in a position to hear this Cowherd guy much (although I was well aware of him) but his show time here coincides perfectly with my work schedule...so over the last year I've had his opinions blaring in my ear while I've been working and I've caught myself wanting to break my radio when he says something really stupid (which is often)...last year I was getting upset with him because he kept telling me how bad my Reds were and how Joey Votto was "the guy that did his driveway last week"...funny...HE WON THE MVP HERD! SHOVE IT!...ahem, sorry...then there were all of his rants against Aaron Rodgers and how he wasn't an "elite" QB in the NFL even though he put together an amazing run in his first 3 years as a starter...HE WON THE SUPER BOWL HERD! DEAL WITH IT!...now his target is Jimmer Fredette of BYU fame...you know the National Player of the Year in college basketball...Herd is ranting and raving everyday lately about how the guy isn't going to amount to anything in the NBA...while this may wind up being true...the reasons that he gives for having this opinion are absurd

He says that Fredette never played anyone in his conference (The Mountain West)...ok he played against the number 2 ranked team in the country in San Diego State twice...a team that was built on defense and fundamentals...he had 73 pts combined in those two appearances...he had 33 against Derrick Williams and Arizona...34 against Gonzaga...Herd you're wrong here

Herd also states that Fredette played in "tiny half empty buildings" in the Mountain West...wrong again...as previously stated I live in Vegas and have attended UNLV games at the Thomas and Mack and it's far from a tiny half empty building...ithttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif's a building that has a well known (out west anyway) reputation for being loud and packed...BYU plays in the Marriott Center seats 22,700 and is always packed...The Pit in New Mexico has a national reputation for being one of the most hostile arenas in all of college basketball and every opposing player describes it as one of their least favorite places to play...Jimmer scored 32 there last season...you're wrong Herd...and you should know better especially since you spent a lot of time in Vegas covering sports during your career

Also stated by Cowherd is how Jimmer can't handle the ball well and create his own shot wrong

Basically what this boils down to is Cowherd watching 2 or 3 of Jimmer's games and dubbing himself an expert on the subject and declaring him to be a bust already...a tactic that he uses often on his show...the jury is still out on what Fredette will do in the NBA but I'm willing to bet he'll be much better than what Colin thinks...
